Frequently Asked Questions

Should the analog or digital outputs be used to connect my Rotel DVD-Audio player to the processor or receiver?

To gain the full benefits of DVD-Audio media, the analog connections of the DVD player must be used, and when connecting to a Rotel Surround Processor or Receiver it is recommended that the analog outputs be connected to the 6 Channel Multi Input, as this input is a pure analog input that will not digitally process the high resolution DVD-Audio signal. These players will also internally decode Dolby Digital, dts and PCM (Stereo) digital audio signals as well for DVD and CD playback and as such the analog connection is the only required connection for playback of all formats. A digital cable can also be connected to the processor or receiver for convenience purposes to allow Dolby Digital and dts processing to be handled in the processor without requiring the manual selection of the Multi Input for DVD Video playback.
